the truth of windows

the truth of windows

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the truth of windows

the laughing draft

chills my soul's window

the glass frosting

from your indifference

i smiled through that glass once

and could almost touch you

through the pain

but you pulled the shades

and the sunlight hid its heart.

Its terrible to be shut out and almost boils down to the fact that not everything lasts and our ideals are not in sync in today's real world of indifference. Nice cold chilling write!

Well, rejection sucks, and that's a fact. The use of cold and windows is very effective here, because they symbolize indifference and barriers. The speaker's plaint is made more painful by the now shattered hope of coming close emotionally. But the other "pulled the shades." I think, though, that what is seen as rejection now may one day be regarded as having dodged a bullet.

Time moves on and relationships change. This was a relationship which disintegrated into pain but there was still some hope. She changed that making sure that glint of light was eradicated completely. No sunlight and happy here. Leaves this reader feeling that this is a universal theme. Sad poem, great writing.

Fine things windows. They can be useful for looking in or out...depending on one's perspective of life. Windows of our soul. Windows of hope to the prisoner clinging on to the dream of freedom. Soul searching piece. Well written and meaningful. Thank you for sharing Jacob
