Moon Dance

Moon Dance

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Moon Dance

i was just a figment of your imagination

never really existed

did you?

did we?

was the us just mirrors

with untrue reflection

with tainted recollection

cracks in the glass

resembling diamonds

but the carats lie

there were two of us.

we know that much is real

but in a plane soaring into the Bermuda Triangle

of memory

perhaps we were just a theory that fell off

that flat surface of a world we thought was round

hearts we thought as connected jewels

moon bulbs

that could light up a failing star

even as we were falling out of sight

did you?

did we?

maybe the answer is better left

a filament in the figment.

thank you, Julie,
j.
And both will be left wondering, who was real and who the reflection. Or that may just be me and how I feel when relationships end.
I am always the one trapped in the mirror, waiting for a glimpse of her reflection.
Still, could be worse, I could be trapped in the upside down of stranger things.
I agree with the last line Jacob, maybe best not knowing.

thank you for your insightful words, Lorry..

ah yes.. the eternal question of 'What if'...

If only...

There are those spectacular ones who cross our lives from time to time and maybe only one time in this lifetime... everything could be so perfect...

if only...

And yet, we hesitate....

... to be left with this...

pouring our hearts out onto parchment... or rather... keyboards...

;-)

You are very welcome...
dear Jacob... "figment of one's imagination" was first used by
Charlotte Bronte in the novel Jane Eyre. So your poetry has
the making of a novel in the mysterious shadows of romance.
truly, Pat
