petals to flakes

petals to flakes

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

petals to flakes

the creek beds are chilling

autumn's warning

the waters will soon become inert

in a frozen garden of landscape

hearts will chill as well

without another to cradle

to warm

a baby's breath will expire for the season

and the stiff stems of grief

will shiver in the raw wind

i will love you no matter

our bed will feel the blanket of intoxication

as we imbibe each other's closeness

and let the frosted window

take in the harsh view

while the logs crackle

and our lips touch softly

the waters will stay fluid

in our world,

and the landscape between us

is the only one that will matter

our temperate climate

shall grow Roses in the snow.

not a problem.
sheesh my friend ..the baby's breath will expire .. harsh indeed ;) wow! i am delighted your pair is warm and cozy sir .. as i have said i am an optimist and love a happy ending .. must be an English couple tho .. temperance being what it is ... i want them tropical ... or maybe even torrid ... temperate cuts more to the real for most of us tho ... but we can dream eh!?

A compelling comparison you choose here jacob - - - while the cold changes landscapes love still warms the heart of lovers who want to "grow roses in the snow" - what a delightful ending to this romantic read.

I do like the indoors with the log fire, the cosy atmosphere while we are wrapped in the winter chill. Nicely written J.

Beautiful thoughts here Jacob. Despite the coldness of winter, a promise that all indoors will not mirror the outside freeze. There will be love, there will be warmth and that is all that matters.

Our temperate climate
shall grow Roses in the snow

And Roses with a capital R to emphasise the sincerity of the intentions.

Lovely work and who could possibly doubt the sincerity here.

gorgy gorgeous writing. thank you for sharing. my god how beautiful you compose poetry, while myself being a janky prose-w***e in jealousy. you killed me at the third stanza, "I will love you no matter." it hit. perfect how you set it up, brother.

That final line puts the icing on the cake in this romantic allegorical piece that takes the reader from the cold outdoors into the warmth of love behind glass. The frosted window indeed keeps us from the chill as we watch winter approach from the comfort of a warmer place.
