On Ophelia's Watch

On Ophelia's Watch

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

On Ophelia's Watch

today will be tomorrow's yesterday
fluent hours stream pass
hands move
the face changes

clocks aren't liars
but reflections on the water
can be whatever we prefer them
to be
or
not to be.

J. you hauntingly give us for musing, the fluctuating reflection of the fair, doomed Ophelia as she drifts downstream through eternity. “Fluent hours stream pass”- brilliant imagery. Time is plastic, Ever-changing, even malleable. So yes, in the eyes of the myriad beholders , “ Reflections on the water..can be whatever we prefer them..to be..or..not to be”...Ahhh- Perfection in words my friend.

thank you for your very kind review, Annette,
j.
The surface reflects but a portion of the depths streaming below. It's what's underneath, what's unseen, that determines most what reflection we see.

thank you for your insights, Linda,

Indeed time can be unkind to us all. Many of us wait for love and never truly find it. And though those hands continue their journey, unrelentingly, we can look back and reflect in which ever way we choose. I am of the mind that you have a deep mine somewhere filled with allegorical diamonds Jacob!
