I especially like the way "flannel flirtations" flows...and the image it conjures for me. I remember a boyfriend wearing flannel when I lived in cooler climes. There is something about the feel of flannel. An early Christmas gift.....an older man meets a love interest and hopes it will last till the end of his life. So romantic and yet there is a sadness between the lines. Again, great alliteration. Lydi**
An old flame, preserved in his flannel, kept by the fire... if not consumed in the heat of the past. Seems you've captured the beauty and the burden of love here, J.
A wonderful memory shared Jacob. In the end, the good and bad become okay. The word, forever can become less true. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Wow! I am bowled over by the romance of this piece set in autumn, be it actual or allegorical. Wonderful to fee;l that depth of devotion sent in both directions, whatever time of life it arrives! Beautifully written as always in a free verse, descriptive.
'She is an early Christmas gift in my October,'. Saving the bow and the tag that says 'forever'. I like the sentimentality attached to the bow and the tag. A good present in a bad present makes me think of a spark of light in a dark tunnel. It offers a cautious ray of hope. That is always to be welcomed. A little warmth makes a big difference in a cold environment.

oh it sure does, Chris...
thank you for your words,

Ah...The ever-present "she"...that thing we associate with a woman BUT...many times it is the representation of something much deeper than the physical she...Not that the physical she is not deep enough but how we poets do love that "she"....boat, awareness, wisdom, love, winter, spring, luna...She is everywhere and everything. She is it... Loved it and thanks~
