A Heart's Glass Jaw

A Heart's Glass Jaw

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

A Heart's Glass Jaw

sun's endurance questioned

sluicing drops throw jabs

in round after round

of storms

daylight dwindles from body blows

as dusk falls on the fighter

and love's corner

throws in the white towel----

that one last cumulus, rolling by

before the ring gets lost in darkness.

artemis pulls
on seven visible pigments
to which we assign our loves

an arrow let loose, new wind,
fly the goose,
shine on the mourning dove

So wondrous is love, so fragile like glass. I love, … "and love's corner throws in the white towel ---- that one last cumulous rolling by..." Nice imagery!

My pleasure.
If love could only stay as bright and shiny as the leaves of autumn. Making it easier to endure the harsh winds of the coming winter with its' cold added to it by shorter days. Nicely done - Jacob.

Take care - Dave

yes, if only...thank you for your kind words, Dave,

Love the metaphor used here Jacob. What a fighter, stuck in there and took all the body blows. Bet he was hoping that one last cumulus had a silver lining. Love on the rocks. Yes, that's what we have here. Title tells me both the heart and jaw are fragile. Visual, saw it all unfold. It wasn't pretty.

This reminds me of the double-trouble punch of cold mornings coming on . . . the ever-present autumn melancholy floating along on a river of bodily complaints! No wonder everyone loves autumn! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
