Ha! Did you pull the plug and try again? So clever with all these IT references. You read like a millennial computer geek, J. Quite impressive and damn good poetry. Maybe you should buy Apple. :)

I am nearly all-thumbs with computers...through hit and miss i have figured some things out...but almost always have to get help from one of our computer guys at school when i have major problems...i make it up as i go along.
wonderful, though somewhat tragic love story...always liked the sequel...love means you're always saying sorry.
I don't recall having the same issues with pen and paper...those fragile airmail letters written on paper as flimsy that love that slowly disappeared.
I suppose the good thing was you could take that letter outside, strike a match and watch the words turn to ash and float away. More satisfying than hitting delete...but that's the world nowadays isn't it?
Metaphorically speaking this is the mother lode with its underlying sadness and conveyance of helplessness.
Well done j.

WOW, GREAT metaphor here. As the modem turns.....the new soap opera, n'est pas? :) Sometimes that cache needs to be cleaned out permanently to make reality...virtual or otherwise....peaceful. I liked this one a lot, Jacob. Lydi**
is this what they call 'modem love'??? those dell computers are always virus prone they don't have the best protection program and it leads to unwanted little processors... or in your case malware... don't you just hate when virtual becomes reality.... except when it comes to your poetry Jacob where reality and virtual gets mixed with metaphor and syntax and we become infected with art....

thank you for your kind words, Curt...
damn that malware.

I love that title Jacob. I wanted to say over the hills and far away, but over the hills and through the dell took me to the computer. Tells me a story of online romance. One that failed. This is so clever and your references to virus, spam, glitches, hard drive are so inventive. And that ending, a virtual reality of one left me with a feeling of emptiness and reminded me of what it's like to be on your own. I also got a strong feeling of frustration as every attempt was made to salvage the situation, but it still didn't work out. Sad. Life is sad. Fabulous work and filled with emotion.
