What at first glance seems reassuring is somewhat less so on reconsideration. Sure, it's nice to know the whole moon's still there when you can see only a fourth of it. When the heart, meaning the feelings, seems that empty, though, you are in considerable emotional pain. I mean dumped, rejected, kicked to the curb pain. Don't even ask about a total eclipse.

Lovely imagery of a crescent moon. When you can't see it, it is hiding. It is always there. Same as the heart when it is dying. You can't see it, but you can certainly feel it. When you are a shadow of your former self, you are still there. That's when you have to dig in deep and that's when you have to persevere and not give in. And that is tough.
