Arguments Aside

Arguments Aside

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Arguments Aside

hey lady,

please set the wind aside

and come sit with us

in just slightly breezy conversation

i know the rant is from deep within

your perspective

it is your nature

to retaliate for our transgressions

taking advantage of your loving spirit

turning your angry cheek towards us

for good reason

hey lady,

let's sit awhile and talk it over

perhaps we can negotiate

find a truce within the storm

assuage your enraged heart

find a balance for all of us

and still let the clouds pretend

their fury.

The futility of the flurry of fury in fixation forms a film of fragmentation giving a flux of formidable frustration LOL (oh for the Irish girls)

What a wise suggestion. Sit and talk it through. What a considerate offer as well. I think your third stanza has probably nailed this dame. Great write Jacob :)

Better than walking away, putting up rifts and walls forever, is to reach out to the other side and diffuse a potential bomb with a genuine voice. If everyone had the sensitivity, the vulnerability that I feel in your words here...

This poem works better than any gender sensitization workshop I ever attended, dear Jacob and I have attended quite a few in my long corporate stint.

However putting differences aside is somewhat more difficult when tender hooks are on knife’s edge.

that is quite true...
Some people don’t have time for they are always rushing around instead of enjoying the peace of a moment.

I interpret a lady is a friend of the persons, having one more so trying to calm her down. Wondering what's to be mad about, why do you feel this way, did we do something wrong to cause you to be angry??? Or of men who are strangers to the lady, perplexed as to why she has such rage. In their masculine but sweet way try to persuade her to forget what got her that way in the first place. hey jacob, penned nicely with a bit of boldness to it.

So with this one, I see Savile Row attire on a distinguished narrator engaging with the lady. Why, you might ask. The royal we. 😀😀

The words and far more importantly the tone that they carry is so compelling, so romantic. She is angry. He is whispering sweet nothings to soothe her. Even when spoken ad alta voce, the tone is a whisper, because he knows and he loves her anyway.

Entirely possible that this poem is about car insurance during a fender bender, but that’s my take.

Rich and smooth.
