when the Bees sing his praises

when the Bees sing his praises

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

when the Bees sing his praises

picture me in your arms

then drop the Bell Jar

let me shatter into a million pieces

with you holding me together

like a glass menagerie

personification running amok

your heart remembering me once

don't worry,

i'll seal myself up

you won't need to

as long as the pieces of me

can recreate some form

of what i was before we met.

~ I think Sylvia would not her head with a little smile at this. All her last poems were so ominous. She was ready to break at any moment. I think the bell jar is what killed her. I like the references in this. ~

We need love even in fragility or our fragmented needs. Love makes us full and alive in facets imagined and stored. Mending the fractures takes patience and healing. The pieces of sadness can be seed in the coming of spring. May your past beckon you to safer shores and brighter future. Masterful sir Jacob...

You are welcome sir Jacob...
Broken relationships. That feeling of being truly shattered wondering whether you will ever repair. They take part of you with them and it takes time for you to retrieve what they have stolen of your former self. Sometimes you never get that back. I never got back who I was before my first marriage ended. I became someone different. Stronger, but not as trusting and not quite as nice as I once was:)

' personification running amok - your heart remembering me once - don't worry, - i'll seal myself up - you won't need to '

Fragility fragments in a guess of air. Life, love changes', hope fades, emotions lose their ability to see what's happening. Bell Jar indeed but not evident to the suffering creature, The glass menagerie exhibited but so easily reachable, thus, destroyed. There's a shadow of a person lost, trying to cope, shrugging, wondering how. There's so much in this brief poem.. but as always. you nudge the reader to re.read, find more.

A fascinating 'tome of thought', jacob.
An excellent write.

Stay true to yourself, I say. But at the same time, no man or,woman can exist alone, no matter how good a facade they may present. It is absolutely possible to spend a small amount of self for the joy of togetherness, of belonging, of peace, which lie at the heart of true love.

Beautiful... something about shards of glass just does it for me!!!💫♥️🌎

Love the last line we lose a bit of ourselves in each new or old relationship so that we hardly recognise our old true self
