Artist's Belongings

Artist's Belongings

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Artist's Belongings

errant emblems

tattoos of hate

on bleached skin

a world pure as cocaine eccentricity

detesting with insane rebellion

against love

understanding is a fading part

of rehab

and the angry young men

set in old ways

vote to hang

but the trees of impeachable offense

are shaky at best

the rope burns a hole through their fingers

hate wins

the tattoos are clearly read

even as the decrepit skin ages badly

ugly lurks within

drawings etched into the heart

errant emblems

can be seen

no matter how transparent

the ink of screaming scorn ...

Just a thought but I feel angry young men had their hearts broken at quite a young age something inside them broke, be it a dream or the under
nurturing of parents etc
something made them sad..
so yes they then rebel and go about proving they are tough
by bearing tattoos almost like a weapon oh dare mess with me! Don’t think about getting old at the time so the old decrepit skin , maybe they could say is their war wounds.
Just a thought

I like the journey it took me on j, you are most welcome. :)
Just being young makes you angry, rebellion stirs the loins and the world is for hating.
At some point though there's a cut-off, and that's always the problem. Being a skinhead at forty doesn't make you angry it just makes you a bit of a dickhead. (Now, before you get a tattoo, think ten years into the future.)

yes, always a cut-off...and then regret...think before, as you say.

I have heard it said that in a hate-filled world, acting with love is the true rebellion. Thought-provoking piece.

thank you for your insight, Miri,

Those tattoo'd angry young men were probably abused in some way when they were young and recognize others of their kind. Those shaky trees seem to get by in any hurricane provided there are good lawyers with crooked scruples.

Angry young men come and go. There have always been angry young men in every generation. Those who find it easier to hate than love. The rebels of this world. I am far more concerned about those shaky trees. If their roots aren't stable, they will fall. We need our trees. We need our roots to be strong. Trees are essential for life on this planet. Angry young men aren't. That's where my mind meandered Jacob.

An important statement on those who rebel, carry around anger against society as a whole, and have no understanding of love or what harm they may do to themselves and others. They are incorrigible. Do you the trees represent justice? For there may none, as hate is everlasting in these men.
Great job!

the imagery is striking and the content thought provoking
the shaky trees will break their boughs long before they catch fire and become clubs in the wake of the angry young man's tirade to be used to spread scorn and ire.

Absolutely intriguing
