some stories just stop

some stories just stop

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

some stories just stop

wounded hearts

bleed blue onto paper carpets

the stain eternal

the scars typed into depressions

deeply set into the pile

of indeterminate conclusion.

I feel like I can really relate to this. When I started writing at the age of 9, I became brutally aware that it is harder to finish something than start it. I went through a cycle where, for years, I would start writing something, only to loose zeal and move on to a new story. This poem is a fancy way of telling the history of the early stages of my writing (and sometimes still the present).

Beautifully written, j, (I'm sure you get a lot of praise already, but...) I am jealous of your way with words, I am in awe.

The ending may not be established or defined but getting there was all the work . Paper carpets , false sense of home . Typing away the stains . Do you by chance have a carpet cleaner ? Thank you for sharing, holly

And that my friend, is why my home is filled with furniyturein curious places and odd angles. To fool me into thinking that life isn't a crime scene of hastily covered evidence.

Only death would stop a story I think especially a couple in love losing a partner. The carpet suggested a homely feel. Well written as usual J.

I feel love is over rated and when caught up in its cycle we can become over consumed and overthink every single wink or twinkle. I love the way you portrayed a broken heart in this poem, the imagery paints the picture perfectly!

thank you, Katrina...yes, we so often overthink instead of just acting upon instincts.

Wow. You've packed a gut punch to me in so little words. The vivid & raw imagery here forces the reader to pay attention. Excellent.

Vivid image...effectively captures the permanent damage that can occur when one is hurt by the people one loves. Some negative pathways of the mind are difficult to undo once formed.
Excellent piece.

thank you for your insights, Miri,

The picture that I'm seeing in this poetic painting is a disappointed heart wandering in the world of confusion to make a conclusion about a complicated condition on a valentine day.

Great work, sir.

This may be twisted, but as I was reading about that stained carpet decorated with all my unfortunate life choices, I had a parallel vision of the many shallow graves under the floorboards where I've forgotten where whichever ones were buried *wink! wink!* Happy V Day, sweetie (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
