the feel of cotton on my mind

the feel of cotton on my mind

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the feel of cotton on my mind

interest morning

Wind chilled heart

enumerating how many beats

a'fore dawn

and seeing you rise

there is plenty of room

in my sky

for you

flannel thoughts

buttoned warmth.

Love these lines: "there is plenty of room in my sky for you"
and I love how "cotton" represents what feels welcome and natural against our skin . . .

I understand the poem. I need a warm day. Winter is holding on in Michigan. One more month and maybe Spring may come? Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome Jacob.
Nothing quite like those frosted mornings cuddled down into flannel sheets...just two noses peeking out...not ready for the day just yet.
This has a John Hartford vibe..."It's knowing that your door is always open and your path is free to walk."
Oh for the days of singer-songwriters once again.

A beautiful job j.

This leads me to thoughts i have each and every morning, of trying to force my feet to touch the wooden floor, hoping i find my slippers before i reach the kitchens stone floor.
The watching of dawns rise here does take at least three layers of clothing and four coffee refills these days. I daren't count my heartbeats for fear most will be posted M. I. A. 😀

There are warm and warmer layers to your clever use of words, jacob. Cotton is considered as cool, fresh, inviting, Rakes time yto warm up ven slightly. However, the flannel starts warm to the touch, becomes invitingly personal, especially when buttoned! What a great play of words.

Such touch you lay in every mark, in every poem and mark you write so prolifically..day by day. If I were to say that there stays more to this poem I really believe I would ruin it...she is there and you hold a vast and deep sky ...or perhaps just the moment captures the warmth the feel and warmth of that "cotton"...she must be something J. Guitar? Car?..lol. Just kidding but as we all know, if it be a she, well you just never know. Thank you so much as always~

Egoistic lass will ignore but a sweet lady that loves you will come running for the warmth.
Twas raining heavily here today in the inauguration of the first spring of this decade.
A heart warming read. Be blessed! :)

Hahaha!!!

I’m a hopeless romantic, who wants to be loved unconditionally, and without constraint.

He has to invite me into his sky, though.

A beautiful write filled with heartbeats.

Warm thoughts in cotton flannel. Best place to be on a cold morning, especially with a wind chilled heart Jacob.
