three lines, four bucks

three lines, four bucks

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

three lines, four bucks

i was infected with you,

long before the pandemic evolved

it's too bad my heart never did

thank you, gram,

Indefinitely immobilized; "love" frozen in place.
An old story uniquely put!

Wow, this packs a punch. Not being able to move on after the crisis was over. So much said and felt in this piece of brevity Jacob about a relationship.

The pandemic evolved and the world moved on yet the heart never did recover, never regained its momentum after that setback. True words of regret spoken here.

Says so much in its brevity, this one. Just as the heart didnt evolve, so too hasn't our behaviour in the current crisis. Seems she washed her hands thoroughly of her infection. A bittersweet poem, J. I hope you are keeping well in these trying times.:))

thank you for your kind and understanding words, please stay safe,

This is a very brief one that could probably be expanded into a short story, maybe even a novel. Unrequited love can make you want to shelter in place.

The heart is the one organ that gets broken time after time, yet still works. A twist on a lost love always makes for a good read any time in my book!

Unrequited love makes for great poetry but lousy bed fellows. Jacob, I love the title but admittedly the 'four bucks' isn't connecting for me. What am I missing????

You are welcome! What's a paper? Just kidding :)
I love how the last line can be interpreted multiple ways. I love how the word "infected" is seemingly interchangeable with "falling in love" *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

If anything needs to be hoarded...whether from the past or into this rather nebulous future...it's Love.

Still well here...take care friend.
