Proud

Proud

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Proud

i am the intimate soldier

standing at attention

by your side,

we assigned blame

delegated the onus

embraced hypocrisy

too close for comfort

and now you are in a uniformed state of sleep

your stripes quarantined for rank

the flag is half mast

there is an ovation

no questions

we have done well.

I miss your work Jacob - Amazing piece - Its nisreen - I have to recreate my account i lost my old one

I love what you are alluding to here
Its like we were always prisoners of something way beyond our understanding
Now we called it quarantine

But were we always restrained and locked up a very long time ago
Our thoughts and sense of being has always stood to be re-examined

Fabulous write!

Thank you Jacob - its lovely to be back
I think that my thinks are being infested with thoughts of those I once felt proud to be associated with on this one Jacob, where the only ovation was for the fact one of us didn't end up buried under the patio and got through breaking up with an almost civil goodbye... No handshakes though, a bit like now in this new untouchy world.
Ps... We both know it wouldhave been me under the patio. It's just a pity I wouldn't be around to hear her defence.
"Well your honour, he kept making nom nom sounds eating pizza and didn't bother learning the actual words of songs and just made up his own."
Which is true. Ever since I first saw jungle book, I've sand beans n sausages instead of bear necessities.
Pps... Yeah, she'd probably be found not guilty 😀

A touching tribute. I sense the pride in an association that was long and intimate and in which a lot of things, some good and some not so good were done, all so human. I feel an ending here, so I sense sadness yet also a contentment for the moments and victories shared. Well done sir!

Though these words seem to be so personal...I loved the imagery used here. So leaving an ovation!
