I so heard these words like a film noir movie voiceover, like "there are eight million stories in the naked city and this is just one of them."
Maybe due to recently watching old classics, but as your last line is spoke, the movie begins and now we wonder if it will be told in flashback or whether the bad guy will be caught at the end or will it be a trilogy.
Miracles do happen Jacob. Maybe even a spin off movie and merchandising rights too.
😀

I remember that movie "The Naked City" and also the tv series of the same name, I watched as a kid.
They started with that same phrase about the eight million stories...I will write eight million poems and wish just one will be good.

It's the thought of the next one being good that keeps us going 😀

Trying to mean something again. I think we all are. We are lost in meaninglessness and look to loud mouth buffoons and pornography to rescue us but like true Nietzcheans...we must rescue ourselves

I'm looking through my window too. We will survive. It's just a dark cloud, I hope. It will rain and rainbow will appear eventually, hopefully, supposedly...
mine too... brother Jacob! it keeps flying out of its holder and on to the desk yes yes yes we are waiting and the dialogue is stirring all about us ready to be scribbled and scrawled

We shall bribe the nurse to smuggle you in a bottle of wine each day and give you extra sponge baths until you reach complete recovery. On second thought, that might actually hinder my healing process. We'll just send happy thoughts instead. (smile)

No way will you ever suffer not finding a subject, topic to write about. This poetry lark flows through dem ol' bones and veins of yours mister J. I get the mourning of social interaction but when society is back in full swing they'll be days when you are praying for a large roundhouse kick of kung flu :))
Hope you are well Jacob

Hanging on the precipice, wondering what is to come ... if the pen runs dry what then?
Thank goodness resuscitation is possible. The Muse has been brought back from the brink.
I think this virus has one unrecognized symptom ... the lock down freezes the brain and the emotions that are tied to interaction with other humans lay waste to ideas.
Good poem j.

I am looking through my window too, with the eyes of a poet. I'm not sure I like the ugliness of what I see. I hope the wind of change will bring an end to too much disturbance. I am unsettled by it all and desire a peaceful existence. Multi layered Jacob, this could also apply to where you think you are with poetry at the present time.
