a deadly martini

a deadly martini

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a deadly martini

a prudent Popeye

thinks his spinach

makes him strong and safe

He believes the label

but his muscles on a ventilator

won't help him against Bluto

who's at least smart enough

to wear a mask

and social distance from Olive.

Yeah wow - that's very in ya face and perfectly timed.

We in Sydney are just about to get smacked I think. Day by day we wait for the fog to roll in.

This should be on billboards all over the place.

I will take the martini though if you don't mind.

How many olives do you want?
thank you, KWP,
j.
I love how you use your " Cartoon " characters to make a point; It seems that those who are the "tough" ( the TRUMPERS) ones think that they are healthy enough not to wear masks, and wind up on a ventilator; While those who listen and are smarter, (not necessarily healthier) heed those warnings and wear masks and social distance....so boo on Popeye...Sometimes you must pay attention to Science!!! great write! You’re very welcome!
Nice bit of social commentary delivered in a very creative way.
:)
No one is invincible. Don't know why some people think they are.
The anti masker movement is following in the same steps as the anti vaccine movement.

yes, so true...thank you, Ana,
j.
I'll take mine shaken ... not stirred. Although the olive will get stuck in my mask. But if I remove it there'll be a bit of spinach stuck between my teeth ... toot...toot.

A good one j.

ah, Wimpy, welcome to the fray.
Loved Popeye and spinach. Cook with it frequently these days. Now here Bluto has got the right idea. God help you if you are looking for a mate these days. Deadly kisses as well as martinis. Glad I ain't single. Get well soon Popeye.
