Union

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Union

i'm just a piece worker

in your heart's factory

making shoes

for you to use

to walk all over my will

until

you give me that raise

and say you love me.

And if you don't get it, you can always go on strike.

yes, walk while we can.
Thank you, John,
j.
Is that where the term, I'll leather you comes from.
Mind you, if you're making stilettos to get walked upon, then that's nearly love, even if it doesn't ''last''
Has 2020 been cancelled now cos every month just tics away now.

That's pretty much been my experience with love. You replied to another review you "had fun with this one". Seems tortured to me. A great title though.

i think as poets we often use the past to conjure up inspiration for the present....much like actors.. read more
As our wage packets are stretched further and further due to increases not keeping up with inflation, standards slip and quality control turns a cheek to cheaper materials and shoddier work, we slip down the conveyer belt and turn from wishing for love to just hoping we get an ocassional like 😀

Oh. Ouch!
It's a promotion that doesn't always come easy and sometimes never so you have to quit and get a job in some other heart factory.

no problem at all, thank you for the visit and kind words, Troy...

Nothing sadder than a dream that can never come true.
Seems to me, the poet--purposely and continually--will lower himself until she reaches the point
of totally rejecting him.
Hopefully, this is what he subconsciously seeks--for, it cannot help but be what he, eventually,
receives.
Heartbreaking poem!

thank you for your kind words, Jimmy,
j.
With all the recent layoffs, I would think chances of a raise are relatively slim, but the fact that you are are a piece worker could work in your favor if you could create an improved method of shoe construction, even creating an entirely new method of footwear construction that greatly enhances increased production numbers, even to the point of creating an entirely new industry, both designing and producing equipment that greatly enhances the shoe production capacity of each piece worker worldwide, thereby both dramatically increasing production and potentially lowering shoe prices and probably expanding what could be a stagnated supply chain
With shoes being what shoes are, she might just love you for that
But you just never know about some women
Just saying

Oh my goodness. This puts a new meaning to downtrodden. You making the shoes she uses to walk over your will. I think you might have a long wait before you get a raise. Not a happy position to be in
