iambic balance

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

iambic balance

your razor sharp sarcasm
cut my lip into double talk
my reply echoed within
but never surfaced to be heard

your eyes reproached me
as i approached you with lean to
but you swayed the other way

and i fell,
not for you,
just over

now i am bleeding gibberish
while my heart tries to slice you back

but your elastic skin
just imagines
while i keep making sense

only to the other poets
who have been there,
and somehow stayed on their feet.

I think we can all relate to what appears here to be reflecting on problems and pain "razor sharp" that words can cause. The terse phrasing focuses the mind on the essential emotions and events involved.

You made sense to this poet. You said a thousand things yet only one. I love a poem that leaves me grasping for meaning. Just got rejected by a woman and this seems very poignant. I bled some gibberish and she leaned the other way. Good write.

I love the use of elastic skin here and the she of razor sharp sarcasm swaying the other way. That is so clever and visual with it. I.couldn:t help noticing the date this poem was written. An old one givien an airing. That must have been for a purpose. I don't think I have ever seen you go into your archives, you are far to busy with the present. Excellent poem. Cuts to the quick.
