Imaginary Number

Imaginary Number

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Imaginary Number

simple things

light

love

touch

complicated by

distance

quarantine

darkness

degenerate souls

using

failing

blaming

simple things

railroaded into

complicated things

people

lost in the equation

we become

the imaginary number.

Yes! I am so intrigued by the concept of an imaginary number. I was never good at math but this always made me think (that is probably why I wasn't good at math because I got all poetic and philosophical!). Imaginary numbers exist but shouldn't. Maybe like us?

I really the progression or degeneration that words in body. Its almost like becoming lost in your own thoughts thinking about things that you love and slowly spiraling in to your darker thoughts; the thing that took those nice things away from you, and sinking deeper in to a thought process that you yourself despise. Very nice.

Thank you for your kind review, Jack.

It's a complex thing this living lark, but only because we have made it so.

It seems to me that what really matters has become increasingly suborned by the flippancy of 'must have,' over honest need; and worse still, the truth is now entirely tainted by the destructive forces of the many tentacled social media platforms, that afford credibility where none ought exist. 'Tis an awful, awful state of affairs

Personally, I have remained deliberately and steadfastly free from the scourge of social media; which although perhaps seen by many as a cop out of sorts, at least allows me to maintain some semblance of sanity. :))

'simple things railroaded into complicated things.' Now that's a real truth!

Beccy.

Whoa... so true... the thirteenth of Never...
hope I do not get a "fever". A lot of "railroading"
going on in Politics. "Quarantine" is the way to
succeed. We have no Media to rely upon...
so Politicians are simply saying whatever they
please to say... a game of "Scramble". as ever, Pat

no doubt we are in that game, caught up in their game.

I love this! Simple in its form but so complex in the means of how one could interpret it. Haha love the little jab of “quarantine”.

I knew I should've taken the twelve-teenth path on the left. I took the thirteenth by mistake and it has most definitely been unlucky for me. The simple railroaded into the complicated says so much about every facet of life. We can't keep our eye on the goal long enough to live the moment, but rather slide into the tangent of daydreaming and wishy thinking of how it will be once we achieve it... Which usually results in not achieving it.
I've always considered life a game of chess Jacob, but your words have me thinking it's really just a game of mousetrap dressed up to look like chess.
Yours sincerely,

Lorry. Age forty-twelve and a quarter 😀

The numbers are not only imaginary, but arbitrary as well. Who makes up this scenario that seems to be evolving by the second ... scientists? or politicians? and what is the point to this whole exercise? As our good friend Sherlock would say "Watson, I fear something is afoot."
And yet, if anyone claims an opposing view, the trash talk starts and before you know it you're a racist.

Good one j.

Imaginary numbers indeed j none knows the real total of all who have perished or will or if the truth be told. None of this was handled well and still isn’t the numbers we will try to predict.

Difficult to comment on this
we are the spoiled entity, almost having/getting everything we want
now we can't just take or demand and it's not going too well

i think you commented quite well, Dave...and I agree with you,

It seems we quarantined what we shouldn't have and let the darkness prevail. The loss has been indescribable and we the imaginary number. It wasn't handled well at all and that's an understatement.
