the man downstairs

the man downstairs

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the man downstairs

insincere lighting

moon dance upon scuffling eyes

they want to vacate the premises

rather than give away secrets

the brow is raised

lies' acceptance

a tenant refusing to leave

shadows are eloquent

red herrings

but the day will soon come.

I think this is an allegory on our sitting president, who lies, scuffles, cheats; a political social agenda; who has many secrets and wants to evict all of us ( in a sense) ; Trump is the guy who refuses to exit; but he'll learn his lesson soon. Red herrings are everywhere. Nice and pertinent! fondly, Betty

Is this sitting tenant, president Trump, who hopefully is biden his time.
Mind you, what Trump card does biden have up his sleeve, and why does the greatest country in the world have two useless men to lead it.

good questions, Paul....yes, two useless men..indeed.

Your title makes me think "devil"....as opposed to "the man upstairs". So many secrets are never revealed in life and those that are revealed never are quite what we predicted them to be. There are those who choose to believe a lie rather than be evicted. The day does come though....always. Lydi**

Everywhere I go.. I see the most adorable children wearing Masks...
many of them seem to be perhaps from other countries.
How can we not acknowledge that "We are the World"...
it has happened so fast with a "triple" whammy.
I 'trust' that the "Man upstairs" has a plan for the beautiful
talented souls that are in this world and created to be
useful and brilliant. God help us all. truly, Pat

This poem resonates with all who have ever faced an eviction or an exodus in their life, under the influence of political and social agendas. Situations turn out to be such that we end up with either leaving or facing atrocities. I literally swept through innumerous events that happened in history where such situations arose, with this poem. And surprisingly, they are more than I can count on my hands, so It was like a trip through history for me. Thanks for sharing.

30 million Americans are facing a possible eviction without a moratorium on evictions or another much needed stimulus to tide them over until better days arrive. "But the day will soon come"/. Am I my brothers keeper now when it's basically everyman and woman for themselves? This world is that of laws not of men. Covid cloaks , then portions out of compassion....dana

the stimulus? it is tied up in the agendas of two warring parties who don't give a damn about us.read more
Leaving by choice is preferable to hanging onto where we're not wanted.
But sometimes we wind up lost with no where to go.

and it is such a tragic "lost"!
As I sit here upon my bluff, not evacuating despite a mandatory order (tenant refusing to leave), & my closest neighbor is also sticking it out at his place down below by the creek - & all the others who've evacuated leave behind interesting bits of life puzzles, dropping everything in mid-sentence to evacuate a week ago. My neighbor the hoarder stops by for a feeble stretch of weedwhacking over the weekend, even tho his property is loaded shoulder-deep with flammable red herrings (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
