a penchant for flirting

a whimsical pendant

you wear around my neck

 

you have me tucked

between your heart and heaven

a predicament that enfolds me

sedentary within my breast

 

you are the pulse

that registers within my pen

i write against the backdrop 

of your eyes

 

keyboard lashes

gently brush my cheek

there are letters for the taking

 

you offer me your poem

and i kiss it gently

within the reason of us.

Movie, "Shakespeare in Love" 1998 film starring
Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes as Shakespeare.

I named my Cat after Gwyneth's character in that movie..she is Viola/Henry...and I call her Hank for short.

Wow! Love that you named your Cat Viola.
Did you add Henry to the name because Viola was a girl posing as a “Guy” ?
I brought two feral kittens into our two-story home. They live only in the lovely Sun Room off the family room. They have a large Oak table to view through the paneled glass French doors and watch us come and go and vice versa. I stay busy keeping them clean. The are both fixed. The are great Buddies. One is a Siamese Mix named Snowflake, but I call him “my bad boy”, and the other is a Tabby with green eyes, named
Eliza Clover Doolittle... first named Clover ‘cause of the green eyes and then she reminded me of Eliza in My Fair Lady.
People who communicate with Cats are like the movie “Bell Book and Candle“ with Kim Novak ... It is almost Halloween .. lol

Yes, because she pretended to be a Henry to get the part of Romeo.
I loved the scene when she kissed him as Henry...and then the boatsman told him she was a she...and was Viola.

Wonderful lines. On reading a few times it came across as an email type poem for a lover( another poet) where more detail is said written on the observational thinking between the poets. Well something like that! lol.

Sounds like a really close relationship. I think here the poet speaks to his muse rather than to some external being. Yes, it is extremely nice when she offers you her poem; makes up for all the times she was moody and silent.
