Aesop's Digs

Aesop's Digs

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Aesop's Digs

a grave is dug

in moral ground

the coffin dropped

with a shrug

he got what he gave

"goodbye" is the easiest word

for him,

and as many words as need to be

said

can we all go home now?

we have tangible lives to lead

the fable is over.

Retribution is quick these days and what goes around comes around quickly. This is the world of fast action. Many times the show was over before I got my popcorn out. We just sit around longing for some action. In need of a break from our own pathetic lives.

Popcorn goes great with a movie...or some distorted reality...

My mind again turned to politics. I was thinking here of your recent election and the loser who won't concede defeat. His grave is dug, many want the funeral to take place so they can get on with their lives, but others still think he is breathing. Divided nation comes to mind. That's where I went Jacob. There was a good riddance here.

divided people are never strong...thank you for your understanding, Chris,

Reading this gave me the feeling that someone got their just desserts just as it happens in Aesops Fables. Having said that, people just don't quit with the gloating and 'I told you so' when they really need to get on with their lives and all the daily grind of it. That is a moral lesson in itself!

Its a pleasure always, my friend.
Wow! A grave dug in moral ground as the subject fails to live up to standards of decency by the sounds of it. And indeed everyone wants just to end it and move on to pastures new. Love this one but a fable?

It is great to be aware of how people feel.. to be in a world where wealth is good for a Country, but not good for our Soul. If we really were a Country that cared for everyone... how can we do that if there is not wealth to back up our Premise? Wish you could tell me how we can do the Ideal Beautiful Plan. Just a Statement for what it is worth. gently, Pat
