A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

definitions pleading

poem:

a conceptualization

of fact,

with no concrete basis

just a whim

of inspiration

to make up life

or rend reality

until we bring it to its knees

one word at a time.

One word may become the foundation for the tree of knowledge where growth brings branches new to be travelled. But do these paths have to have meaning maybe some are just for fun.

thank you for your words, andrew,

One word at a time....that is how a poem is written. So like a journey of one step at a time. A word sparks our mind and the poem is off and running. Sometimes the destination is the circular file, but more often it is a good poem....like this one. lydi**

thank you for your kind words, Lydi,

I thought of all the whims I have had. I thought of all the first lines I wrote. I am thankful for the poems I managed to complete. Many words were abandoned on the journey.

Isn't it cool, a phrase falls out of the air, and then we act upon it.
thank you, Chris.

That's the way it goes :)
Oooo, very well done, of course, I find this very true and something we strive for with every line, every carefully chosen word creating a string of pearls, wisdom even. As always a pleasure to read your work. One word at a time

Yes. Exactly. We start with nothing, an idea, a feeling and we make it complete word by word, idea by idea, feeling by feeling.

yes, that is what we do. Thank you, Fairy,
j.
Indeed often we start off with a mere wisp of cognitive awareness which forms from the mist into whatever we wish. Real or imagined but indeed those who write it have the power to take it where they wish. Short and as always stimulating Jacob.
