America the Beautiful

America the Beautiful

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

America the Beautiful

muscle cars
empty bars

hotels with too many vacancies
room service suspended

drinks are outside of the house
people are inside their fever

burning rubber
towards heaven

they weren't warned of last call
and the "do not disturb" signs

were ripped off their doors
by angry maids

who are jobless
then penniless
then toothless

starving

living

in muscle cars
their lives suspended

This is so harsh! . . . & an honest look at the parts of this socioeconomic decay that nobody mentions. There's so much ugliness underneath the covers & you've thrown 'em back for a big ugly look (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

thank you, Margie...it is so sad and didn't need to be this way.

Summed up the current situation well Jacob. We are flat out building, unaffected, could be a different story when all of the redundancies and businesses closing kick in after the first quarter of next year !
Hope you are keeping well.
Do you think this site will save itself from the Chinese influx ?

Covid has and is still taking its toll. It is like Ebola, eating away at society from the inside. You capture much of the 'nature' of our pandemic here Jacob!
