I hear Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young singing 

"Our House is a Very Very fine House

with four cats lying in the yard, dead"

 

 

the senators are down

his ratings are up

Neilson is up in arms

the arms are up

swinging the masses

and then on Sunday

they will all be in pews

counting rosary beads

and bullets in their belts

 

raise the flag

you've razed democracy

the words are recorded

the movie soon to be released

 

but most won't see it

since it's too long to view

without prejudice

and critics want the theaters shut down

if they show it

 

the second amendment

needs amending

or maybe it is just this poet

 

who needs amending

or a new soundtrack.

It's kinda nice to read somebody else who still feels as jaded as ever . . . not frothing with optimism now that we have vaccines available & the boogeyman out of the oval office. I don't think the path from this swamp of Trump backwash will be easily drained & filled with something less toxic. Your jing-jang jattering of progress (in your poem) sounds about like what I would expect to continue, regardless of a seemingly come-to-Jesus moment for Pence & McConnell (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I will miss most, if not all of it.

This whole thing has been a s**t show on both sides of the aisle. What is needed is a legitimate third party to give people a true choice. Neither side is innocent nor are they guilty of anything but greed and a quest for continuous power ... maybe term limits is the answer.

Our fearless leader is an open admirer of China's dictatorship because they get things done ... not surprising considering his old man was friends with Castro.

As far as the second amendment there are more than enough laws on the books to control guns, just a decided lack of will in enforcing them.

What is the saying? Speak truth to power. That only works if the words being spoken are believable.
