A Rite of Write

A Rite of Write

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

A Rite of Write

you bury me
in delight

you speak of swimming
in delirium
as I drown in didactic self-observation

pity in pools of pithy, prudent
of language
even I cannot dictate

I am just the secretary
taking shorthand
from the long hand above

the words shoveled
upon me,
I scream with the joy of writing

just before they cover me up.

And walk away weeping
in smiles.

Someone said when they die they will be working up until lunchtime before their funeral. With all our mental faculties intact we could be writing up until our final moments, who knows. Another thinking man’s write Jacob with many facets to ponder on.

thank you for the smile, andrew,
Excuse me for taking a time-out from reading/reviewing most poetry right now, but I'm having this very experience while writing my next book. Sometimes I wonder why I "surface" & try to join the "real world" from time to time . . . hiding my self-satisfied mirth from the fomenting masses (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Heh, usually for me, I get eaten by the bear instead of the other way around. Thanks for the positive outlook JEC.
