A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

attention shoppers,
I am the Wal-Mart poet

always on sale
not the best words
but affordable
it you are okay with lesser quality
and 3 for a dime vocabulary

cheapskate
deals
shelved metaphors
the clearance

must sell
there is new stock arriving
of old bards
like Tennyson
T.S. Elliot
and maybe some Wordsworth

with words worth
much more than my offerings

but then,
you can get a lot more poems for your buck
if you shop me.

Made me smile Jacob. You know I love a good bargain. I like value for money. Reminds me why I don't buy designer anything :))

Will be the first in the queue :)
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Walmart poems. Just be aware that if they were written in either India or China, they could be the work of slaves.

Cute! The best deals are often found on the sales racks. :) Love this little ditty. "with words worth"...now that's no Walmart line there. Fun little write. I enjoyed it very much!

Thank you for your kind review, Seriana,

Perhaps those old poets had doubts as well ... but they didn't have Wal-Mart.
Old Sam Walton would have understood j. I believe he drove an old pick-up even as a billionaire. No fancy words for him ... that bargain bin of metaphors would have suited him just fine.

Stay safe friend.

I think of you more of a macy's poet.
This is funny.
When we try and compare ourselves to the classc poets of old we can feel this way.

The poetic Aisle is my favorite section if I am not choosing Material in the Sewing Dept. I love 💕 a good bargain..

Happy Easter! Frankly, I've never been able to understand why many fine poets such as yourself put "classic poets" above your own shining works. But your Walmart metaphor is sweetly rendered, except no house slippers & curlers roaming the aisles? (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
