A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

I went to that Church of the poisoned mind and lived to tell

I will give you a couple prayers
for a Caddy,

Look out for your soul,
for a luxurious mansion

rid you of the devil
for a large donation

God is in my heart,
but I even charge him
to dwell

Can you afford my bible?
if not, you can rent it
for a few Benjamins

Sorry buddy,
religion does come at a price

crossing that fiord
between good and evil?
the toll is droll
but you might be saved

if you save enough
to barter
I will deliver you
from the catastrophe
of yourself.

The title of the poem intrigued me. The sordid side of (organized) religion all right, everything at a cost. "I will deliver you/from the catastrophe/of yourself." So true. Really enjoyed this, Jacob.

Scan of headlines this morning touts: youth are driven away from organized religion en masse . . . I wonder why? I slipped mightily from my previous fake posture of tolerating Bible-thumpers in a "live-and-let-live" campaign. This poem might be one of your most dastardly, as far as slamming the whole bunch of pious hypocrites, a most satisfying read after the last administration of devil worship (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I'm free from all the falsehoods they added during the centuries about God, Jesus and many others from paganism and outright ignorance for power and control over the masses. Long subject but I love how you are shining the light on many things . You are a great thinker and writer Jacob.

You are great in my book and a trailblazer.
I still have an "indulgence" that was purchased by my great uncle the Catholics were the trailblazers of this industry they were just too slow on the "Mass Marketing" to keep up with the televangelists:/ I have few dislikes more than that of a righteous sinner and I'm thinking deep down they have even less fondness for themselves

I often wonder how many of the tv preachers have sold their souls to the devil. I also wonder if he asked for a refund on the grounds of damaged goods.

Lots of damaged goods with those guys.
thank you, John,
j,
Kinda reminds me of that old TV show where the good reverend "cured" people ... made the lame walk and the blind see ... it may have been Oral Roberts ... but I'm not sure if it was.
There is nothing wrong with being spiritual rather than formally religious.

Come to think of it, Jesus wasn't a Christian.

Good message j.
