Ballet of the Viper

Ballet of the Viper

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Ballet of the Viper

red shoes

and tired blues

candid dreams

the music blaring

boredom flaring

it all just seems

a meaningless dance of solitude

wishing like a pied piper

to enchant a heart

into playing the part

and welcome love to intrude.

Sounds like a stretch of the blues passed in solitary. Not sure if vipers still respond to pipers. Maybe a dating site would be more effective.

ha ha, perhaps so.
thank you, John,

The title immediately caught my eye - it's evocative, and so is the rest of the poem. The rhythm, the images, or maybe just the word "blues" brought Langston Hughes to mind whose writing I like a lot. As to the message, I can totally relate to it. I've read some of the comments below, and I was amazed at the wisdom and self-control of some. I never had that in me. :)

Thank you, Laz, and I really am a big Hughes fan as well.

Careful j., if I remember correctly the Pied Piper enchanted rats.
But in the midst of these interminable lockdowns in Ontario that are causing an increase in depression anything ... human or otherwise that breaks the solitude would be welcome.

My Dad told me as long as I went looking for love I wouldn't find it. At 29 when I least expected it, along it came. You just have to live and hope the sun will shine for you. Maybe tomorrow.

We keep going whatever the hour or epiphany - seems a human trait to do so and who knows, maybe that is a blessing for the sun may rise tomorrow :)

I think you are so wise, my friend....
thank you.

A colourful day, other than the prolonged solo at the end.
Yet we still practice our moves in the mirrors reflection, just in case.
And by we, I mean me. Not so much two left feet as two lead feet, but it's quite impressive around Halloween if the monster mash is playing 😊

Hello, Jacob! :)
Thats a lovely write. I like those rhymes, and the title is great. I'm usually slow on the uptake with your poetic style, but this one spoke to me right away. Thanks for sharing again.
