lies are a dime a dozen, eggs more expensive

lies are a dime a dozen, eggs more expensive

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

lies are a dime a dozen, eggs more expensive

opinions

sit within cracked eggshells

spilling onto the table

the yolks seeping

out tarnished yellow

chickens laid these formidable poses

humans bobbled the box

fragile truths stretched

then fissures happened

in the end

verification is fried

burnt, inedible

did you really know me

before you believed what was said?

or did you just order from the special’s menu

without reading the fine print?

thank you, Julia!

To me this is somewhat like false advertising.... but if you read between the small print you see that it's all lies.... I've learned the hard way, and now I distrust most websites that make you think that their product is the best ...they only show 5 star reviews....yes most of us accept the lies..... and fall into that pit.
Great metaphor with the eggs!
Best, B.

thank you, I know I am a bit soft boiled in the head...but glad I still make some sense.

I doubt it!
does anyone EVER really read the fine print or ever truly know another person? six of one and a half dozen of another, blind faith will ofttimes make a bad egg seem foolish.

When you judge others by the rumors then you put judgeent upon yourself. I love your metaphorical humor.

thank you, Cowboy,

I prefer my facts hard boiled so the body of truth stays intact, even if the outer shell is removed. After all, you can't tell a good egg, merely by it's covering. I always enjoy your metaphor. Didn't Loretta Lynne say something about "women like you are a dime a dozen, you can buy 'em anywhere" I always liked the spunk of that slam. :)

I like this because I to like to order the special and then judge someone by their character rather than just assuming I already knew them. You as always have written such a nice piece. I always enjoy reading your work!

thank you for your kind review, Hayllie,

Seems we all have our favourites, however presented, however prepared. As always you write in transparent riddles, allowing readers - perhaps, to read - reread, and then transcribe according to personal mindset -eg good or bad taste. For me, being allowed to read the fine print is rule number one... but not everyone is as precise as you are sir. :)

I appreciate your visit and kind words, em,

dearest Jacob... we have been eating eggs about four mornings a week...
I have mastered the Art of "over easy" so you can dip your soft toast of
"Champagne" bread (freshly made) into the lightly cooked Yolk.
So I was delighted with your Poem.
It adds another 'dimension' to my Art.
Love how you blend phrases like an Opera
at the Metropolis Hall of Poetry. Now I hope
you write a Poem about Coffee. tenderly, Pat

You know, over the years J, I have learned the importance of making my own decisions about people. You have to trust your own thoughts. I don't allow others to influence my relationships with other people. If I mess up, that's my mistake. Then I have to own it.

I'm quite happy to order the special and then decide whether I thought it was special or whether the flavours are off.

I like scrambled eggs. Now where did all that come from?
