Glimpse

Glimpse

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Glimpse

temporary shades

of antiquity

I wear the dark glasses

of age

love walks in front of me

with tinted rhyme

I used to love

different age

now my heart tries to sing

and I inadvertently silence it

no one notices me running

I write lines of escape

she smiles

at least

at my age now

I think I remember

she did.

Broken relationships can make you wary, especially if you have tried again and it didn't work out. I see before me an oyster shell, shut tight, too afraid to open and reveal a pearl. Perhaps age holds us back. Great work J.

and imagine how rich age is with all those withheld pearls?
thank you sis Chris,

in your first verse I see someone who sees differently from others, sometimes it can a pleasureful inspirational experience. as we age we love wisely, but sometimes a wise heart breaks more painfully than the young one, as fear creeps in, this wise heart becomes more guarded and to open it again requires lots of courage and might prefer to only stick into the sweet memories rather than risk it again.
