A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

incoherent structure

Plantations rose over the next hills

of stubborn entitlement

and there were real people

with real hearts of gold

minted into servitude

and masters of the art

of intimidation

and wishful thinking of being kings

with subjects

enjambed by their verbs

semantically injured

pride wounded more than adjectives

could ever conjure

a war evening the sides

those monuments just shattered casings

of an old faith

Nothing like God's

in an adverbial affront

they all died slowly

and then civility

bloomed in that field

over that horizon

where something that once blocked the sun

stood in its own vanity

a symbol of caustic splendor.

Only God can make Statues in the Sky that come and go...
for Inspiration in the Valley's below. Whatever it takes to
lessen the suffering of the Human Race. We do not see Politicians
go to War to save the Spirit of Freedom. And yet they can-- if they choose--
cause Chaos and more human suffering by not handling Change properly.
This is my Plea for Prayers to be answered. Amen... Pat

I just finished "Heart of a Woman" by Maya Angelou -- of her several autobio's, this one is filled with her abundant activities among civil rights leaders for years & your poem resonates with what is still echoing in my head after reading this book (((HUGS)))
