and there was no back-up act

and there was no back-up act

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

and there was no back-up act

in the noble arena

the blue ladies and men

exacerbate over glass cannisters

shorn needles

air pressure swollen

to a halt

machines hum

the drum drum drum

bangs quickly

life is a flash in the pan

band breaking up

no chance of reunion

as the lead singer's breath

ebbs like the repetitious

ending to an old hit tune

in the noble arena

where the concert lay dying

the blue ladies and men

comfort the audience

refund the price of tickets

the show hurt too much

and no one left

singing.

We have some close friends that are nurses and every time we see them we thank them for what they do. There has been more than one occasion that we have talked about the Covid. They get most upset when they have to deal with the death or terribly ill children. What REALLY ticks them off are the parents that still haven't gotten the vaccine and their child is suffering.
Take care - Dave

not a problem sir
blue is not traditional color in our area but no matter the color, this is a brave group of people, working in a dangerous environment. that deserve our respect
I believe all health workers will soon be mandated to receive a vaccine

The noble arena, you took me to emergency care. I didn't like what I saw. The professionals, trying their best to save lives. That scene replicated in a world wide pandemic. I only saw the suffering here as, a result of covid. So many who didn't even reach hospital.

Blue - thank you for your mention of nurses my friend. I know because I am one myself and am fighting for my husband’s life with covid. Sadness abounds these days…but hope and music saves.

We're lucky so many old bands are still together, playing, when your poem is the typical rule. This reminds me of small businesses in general after the ravages of a pandemic, too (((HUGS)))
