Concessions

Concessions

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Concessions

Burgers, fries

and fascist loopholes

where the MacDonald's Arches

reach a darkening sky

napkins with communist intentions

wanting soak up all the countries

getting their orders to go

Let's drop bombs in the ketchup

splatter the walls with blood

send Big Mac tanks in to supersede

the failing leadership

and the apple pie for dessert

couldn't be more American, could it?

now we just need to build a baseball field

and dream of peace across a World

that was built

where the corn eats ghosts

and life strikes out.

Bit of a stretch going from McDonalds to America, thinking first of America
Like it or not the US represents peace and security for its allies, who could not be effective on their own,(who was it basically won the second World War)
The latest US and allies pact (excluding an overly friendly to China, Canada) which includes nuclear submarines and banning Huawei, is meant to be a push back to increasing Chinese influence/aggression, and is both good and necessary.
Without the US presence, Russia, China, Iran, etc., would eventually dominate, and their form of aggressive communism would be a source of continual aggravation, with catastrophes such as 9/11 becoming much more likely.
US policies mean to me, that America is focusing on itself in a preventative manner
The days of countries each hiding behind their borders is over
Maybe??

A thought provoking write for sure , there will always be a competition for the most powerful country even after a hundred decades .It's US now which is good , but what after 10 yr , The world will witness a building of the powerful arms more more and innocent blood will be splattered all across the world , The situation will be unpredictable . A dream of peace shall not remain a dream but truth i believe or it will get faded as times passes by ...A wonderful write

I think the world will always be in the need of a super power. But may be in the near future we will see the emergence of a leaderless world. But already there is a competition between America and China for their technologies and there will always be some countries which will take either side of them for their own benefit.Be it communism or capitalism everyone is seeing their own interest.

But America can really change the scenario but it has to decide whether it sticks to its notion just as a country or "a country with a cause".
e.g for Afghanistan not everyone is primordial in their thinking that's why they wanted to hold their hands

A nice thought provoking write...loved it

thank you for your kind review, Kaykey,

There's more than one country on this planet which could learn a few logical things about its successes and failures and - that is to look at its past and see what has been learned by it. Then in 2032, look back and see how everything turned out! Nuff said, jacob. Great write but.. and..

What was that about winning WW2?!

You stir a pot full of rich tasty greasy gravy . . . I'd make a political statement, but all my gas got exhausted as I read all your readers ranting *wink! wink*!

yes, a bit of reaction for sure.
MacDonald's has been international since 1967 built in British Columbia. (I looked it up) ;) Your poem gives one much food for thought .. on the other hand .. keeping terrorist attacks on their own soil seems a better choice than waiting for another 9/11 ... opposition parties in both fascist and Communist regimes are suppressed ... makes me think of "political correctness" .. the IRS marking any movement of $600 or more from ones private bank accounts, Journalists who clearly omit important coverage or fail to give the "rest of the story" ... banning one side of things while allowing the other on social media .. I agree completely about America's need to focus on itself .. personally have wanted that since Reagan was president ... we use money we can't pay back .. give billions to countries who hate us .. our borders on the south are pretty much non-existent .. our President refuses to answer legitimate questions and seems so hung up on vaccinations he can't talk about anything else ... I love the content of your poem .. not your best one poetically tho ... in my opinion ... Big Macs and fries are a tough metaphor for fascism and communism ... MacDonalds being so benign ..V3 L2 "wanting (to) soak ...." ;) thanks for the forum sir! America needs to tend to it's own business for sure .. a little isolationism might just be the laxative we need to keep us regular :)) constipation makes everyone upset, disgruntled and little off center.

America should concentrate on her own affairs. Stop trying to be the world's policeman and that means us too in the UK getting drawn into bloody conflicts which aren't our business. You can't impose western standards on nations who clearly still live in the dark ages. One size does not fit all. So much money wasted that could have been spent housing the homeless. We have a housing shortage which is a national disgrace. Veterans living on the streets when illegal migrants are housed in four star hotels. Madness, total madness. It is stirring up a hornet's nest. That's where your lines took me J, this early morning.

yes, chris....yes.

McDonald's is America unfortunately, in fascist style; so is "orders to go".... and we, as Americans shouldn't be meddling in other countries, but we can't stop. Our ill-fated pull out of Afghanistan left a country in shambles , with a very bloody ending....you are obviously against what we did in Afghanistan, and I like your Big Mac style of rant...I like the apple pie idea too....I think we should keep our nose clean!

You’re very welcome J.
We could just hope they keep eating at McDonalds and have a massive coronary. Collectively. Can't say that thought hasn't crossed my mind. I like how you hide your subtleties here. It's like you're engaging in a battle of wits with unarmed people. And I'd pay good money to see that!
