and the illusion

and the illusion

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

and the illusion

Partake the meal

sink your teeth into the relevance

ride it a while

let the stand be penultimate

undo the done

let's restart the truth

it can be an engine that roars

or a muffled idling

diagnostics

driven pacifists

peaceful demonstrations

of a will to love

the two parties

have delved into crashing

there are imbalances

to be leveled

even if the sides are uneven

and totally uncomfortable

standing face to face.

This could be about politics. But it could also be about two people who no longer see eye to eye. Nothing is more uncomfortable than having to share a room (or a house) with someone who no longer cares about you. You level each other with dark stares and recriminations, each claiming the truth applies only them. A good poem is one in which each reader finds a meaning that applies to them. You've done that here.

Thank you, Zoe....that is always my goal with writing.

Yeh, never gonna be leveled. Too much ego. Politics would be a game played largely for personal glory. Nicely written.

Reminds me of how you have 2 feuding parties in the US ie democrat and republican, yet one America and there is rarely a consensus on anything; ironically I find myself more disturbed by the fact that we've never had an independent in office....nice write.
