My Utopia with one comma in it

 

 

 

i am mad at life

i am mad about life

i am mad at you

i am mad about you

 

i am mad at war

mad at violence

mad at the economy

mad at the current president

and the former president

and the one before that

and the one before that

 

i am mad at slums

i am mad at people with bad gums

who can't afford the teeth doctor

because they are madly poor

and mad at their lives

and mad because of their lives

 

i am mad at myself for being mad

and i am mad at you for not understanding

and i am mad at you for not trying to understand

and i am mad at me for being mad at the world

 

and mad at me for being mad at you

because i really just want to be happy

 

and hug life

and hug the president

and hug poverty, vivaciously

and hug a dollar bill 

as i say bye to it forever

 

and embrace madness

until i don't know why i am mad

anymore

and don't care if i'm mad 

anymore

 

do you understand?

because i don't

 

and i am mad about that, too.

Thank goodness for a comma, you can take breath now for it’s a mad,mad, mad world out there. We are living in a world driven by rage out of frustratIon that the world is far from perfect. Had a laugh such a clever write.

That was so good!!! I wish you could see the smile on my face. Oh, it's right there next to this. Part of my merriment is the fact that I have dentures and was the focus of some of your anger at one time. The concept and structure of this poem really catches the eye and reads easy. There are plenty of things to be mad about in this world, even if we don't understand them properly, or even understand why we are mad at them! A poem that is both funny and thought-provoking at the same time! They say that when you are truly satisfied with everything it is time to die! I'm not truly satisfied, so hopefully I'll live a little longer yet! Thanks for sharing this poem!

I think it was Michael Bentine who said it's a mad, mad world". That was back in the fifties. Nothing's changed and it's only gonna get worse. When we don't get mad that means we don't care.
