the core, then the encore

the core, then the encore

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the core, then the encore

it's all about the words,
the poet just gives them a shove
towards the foreground...
they perform
like weeping willows burning in the sun
callous in the cold winds
they rise from the mind of crazy

the audience extends to meet them
halfway,
and there is a magic melding
understanding is worth the price of admission

and hopefully,
an afterthought or two
while the lighters flicker
for more.

Love your title Jacob. That's really catchy and wise!
Sure this one gives me "an afterthought" and want to read more from you.
I really like the last line "while the lighters flicker for more".
I enjoy the whole piece symobolised by a (musical?) performance. I can imagine the concert curtains opening at the beginning and closing at the end. I thought I read "weeping cellos" : ) Very interesting.

thank you for your kind review, Louisa,

Beautiful poem J.

Understanding is worth the price of admission

We do expose so much of our inner selves for our art and I still hold back afraid to say more.

Last three lines of stanza 1 are superb.

We can all hope for the after thought. That is a reward indeed. That has to be the bonus if a poem is remembered.

A cracking good title too. Loving your yesterday poems J.

Gee
It is the understanding I struggle with when writing doesn't slap me in the mush and say "this is my meaning fool" ( that sounds a bit like the big fella, BA, from the A Team)
It is what we all want when posting, our words to be read, understood and even pondered upon.
Good stuff Mr J
Hope you are well sir :)
