Promise

Promise

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Promise

my eccentric friend

embalmed in havoc

breathing smiles

are souls departed

he no longer laughs heartily

at the ironic symmetry of life

his whereabouts are vaulted

the man is interred in his sorrow

she is the brilliant angel

he once could hold tightly

with sanctified arms

embracing a dream

when he wakes,

his tomb is his heart

and she lays metaphoric flowers

upon the dust

that love became.

Love never dies
Just like dust
It reappears just when you
Finishing dusting your heart off

I’d say

Beautiful poem Jacob

thank you for your kind words, Julie,
j.
I really appreciate your poem structuring. Concise and beautifully depicted. This is a heart breaking tale, yet there is peace in the conceptualization of how devastation effects (us). It is evident that you have an apposite sense of heart ache and yearning.
