foolish pleasure

foolish pleasure

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

foolish pleasure

curbed my appetite
for the taste of your honey hair
dripping across my chest

held your sweetness
in my arms one last time
and vowed to fast

on what i could not keep
that confluence of enchantment
that was meant to be free.

Gentle dance of words and the words held great meaning. The wishes of one more kiss, one more embrace and we will want more. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.

No bitterness in resignation, simply a profound understanding of the nature of love, unconditional. We cannot hold it too tight, or it will die. But if we release it, in freedom, it may come back to us, unconditionally.
If not, then so be it. Cherish the memory, as you have done so eloquently.
Relatively simple words, arranged delicately and skillfully, so convey a complex philosophy. I love this. And that is saying a lot because my natural proclivity is complex words to convey abstract thought...just how my brain rolls. This is subtly complex, and intriguing.

The difference between love and lust.; lust makes us slaves of desire but love sets us free by giving itself away. Love can continue without gratification but lust fades once as B.B. King put it, "The Thrill is Gone".

A tug of war between freedom and possession, a fine line between let go and having. I could feel the author's dilemma and what to do next.
Wow!
Excellent.

Yes siiiirrrr. You are welcome.
Some can't commit to relationships. They prefer to be as free as a bird to fly. That isn't easy to accept if you happen to be the other.wishing for more. Maybe a lovely memory. A candke glow

This reminded me, in an indirect way of "I know why the caged bird sings, by Maya Angelou."
Sometimes you just know that their freedom counts for more than any other label given to them and you will always be remembered for not treating her as a possession.
Nicely done, as always Jacob.
