near the brook

near the brook

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

near the brook

i am a sentimental rock

granite gushy insides

a rolling stone of regret

love is a chip of chert

pieces of shrapnel stone

even gathering moss

i feel something

sedimentary

an air of feeling

water from tears shed.

Thank you, willow,
j.
And with no more tears to shed, we harden to stone.
How sad to become so.

yes, very sad...thank you, Ciara,

granite gushy insides

Love can be shrapnel stone and cold with it.I felt the emotions here J, they touch deeply and not in a satisfactory way. A rolling stone of regret. Maybe the moss is softer with the passing years. I hope so.

Men are granite but with lots of oceans crying in them. Love is their source.

thank you for your comment, AJ

You bring this sedimentary rock to life...so much so that it can shed tears....i like the idea that love is pieces of shrapnel stone.....near the rock by the brook that has life and love and emotion. Thanks for sharing J.

Stone cold. This one rocks. I loved the line "granite gushy insides" This piece has a rock solid foundation.

thank you, Soren,

They say you can't get blood from a stone but I guess tears flow freely when a flood of emotions drowns all hope. I could feel this Jacob, deeply.

thank you, will,

I love the image of love as a shrapnel stone.
Even gathering moss, it retains its power to hit and hurt...
Meanwhile, memories sediment.

thank you for your insightful words, DIVYA,

Could feel and see that myself. It's been a rough ride and it isn't slowing although I begin to sit on the balcony to watch it all pass me by yet much of it remains within like silt and sediment.
