the cult hero

the cult hero

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the cult hero

the barfly

met the swatter

he wrote poems

and left blood

on the bar stool

scrawled wings

torn,

disfigured faces

a web of entitlement

page one

the disclaimer

page two

i didn't get that far

and the beer

has left bruises

in my throat

coughing up a black and blue

foam

and the urge

to superimpose

all over his book

watch his inebriated poems

stumble into ignominy

I sense a real dislike in these words, kind of like trying to clean your shoe after discovering where the dog crapped is where you stepped.

ah yes, those darn dogs and those who don't clean up after them.

This one brings Bukowski to mind. The man did like to drink and he was a cult hero. A little too earthy for my taste, though.

Yes Jacob. The poor barfly had no chance. I did enjoyed the sad tale and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.
