A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

to the machines

grateful monotony

sobriety of bones

a drink of madness past

putting that all behind us now

repetitious logic

the will is there

but the feet are slow

thank you, duff,

There is a real poet at work here...
You should maybe think about expanding the scope of this one, it feels like there is something important struggling to work its way out of your imagery... I'd really like to know what it is... maybe context would help, as it is, it feels like two incomplete sentences...

You are always welcome, jacob.
Slow and steady. tortoise and the hare, it may take longer to get there but it's easier to take in the scenery on the way. I know the feeling, it is something you get used to. Nice one Jacob.

We are on the climb in many ways these days. But I'm not entirely certain that all of it is progress; whether it gets us further up the mountain of our ambitions or not. Perhaps the best logic before us is to slow down and tread carefully lest we lose our footing in reality and grasp of the important. It's always a pleasure to read your work Jacob. F.

Where there is a will, there is a way. Everyone slows down eventually. Sobriety though, saves lives. Drink can kill. Dear J, your brevity here can be read on different levels. This is where I wandered first.

Dear Jacob,

Such a brilliantly worded poem! Reading it, I felt I am reading about someone I know, perhaps even myself. We have left behind the past and taken lessons in sobriety. We will all slow down yet never lose the will. The will is always the last to leave, perhaps never. The flesh gives way. Sadly.

Always welcome, my friend.
Slow still gets us there Jacob, as well as giving us time to enjoy the view as well, if there is one worth enjoying.
