A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

transition

the bleak foliage

cries in windfull sighs

summer hitched a ride

and left winter in its cold cab

circling the driveway

waiting for its fare

in the frigid air

of make believe

spring is the driver

but she won't open up

like a bud delaying the inevitable

we toasted the moon's persistence

i became the snow

getting in my own way

slogging through drifts

my mind applauding

relating

i felt a warm thought

so suddenly, it felt as a collision

of senses

meanwhile,

the meter just kept running

into sunset

she kept the change, i accepted.

Gee
We'll put it down to global warming Jacob, or too many Friesan cows farting, or dumped fridges, or inter galactic green eyed ghoulies interfering with weather patterns or, or just good old mother nature being herself :)

oh those impolite Cows..
thank you, Gee,

Seasons aren't the only things that change. Relationships can change more swiftly and more radically. Sounds here as though time ran out and someone departed. Count the change as a tip. Maybe a lesson, too.

Thank you for your words, John,

I like the delayed budding analogy of spring to your past relationship, moving forward in a cab 🚖, paying a hefty bill at the end. At least the cab was yellow.
I like the mentioning of warm thoughts and collision of senses.
May you see spring soon. No wonder many cultures celebrated Nowruz.

What a classic flick! Oscars all over the place.

Yes, Spring is the cab driver. Will winter get out? Just a few weeks ago, in Camas, Washington, schools were closed due to snow. The snow melted but winter hung on. Now all of a sudden, sunshine and blue skies. Temps reaching 60! Daffodils are blooming by my mother's house and robins are hopping around in my yard.

No matter how many times we offer old Father time a generous tip for the journey, he ain't stopping nor even slowing down, the destination ahead awaits and no amount of heavy snowfalls, heatwaves, nor even Spring's welcome invite is gonna deter the taxi..

A stellar, seasonal delight Jacob, your pen writes so imaginatively whatever the weather or road conditions!!

Thank you for your kind review, Tom,

What a great metaphor. This can be taken different ways. The seasons are clear and this year has been a one with a hard winter for most. However, this could also be the seasons of life and time does pass and keep the change.
