Mad Earth

Mad Earth

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Mad Earth

failing raindrops

evaporate in hazy skies

as famine creeps across the skyway

the air mulched into thwarted breath

there were white clouds once

even in the storms, they were gray

but this color

is some anemic over-exposure

looks like the sun leaking

onto a canvas

the painting seen through raw eyes

" aye, that's the rub"

eradicated vision

still leaves the mind burning

with guilt

Oedipus lived with more clarity

after blinding himself

some Quebec King doused his kingdom

with an arson's hands

his throne bound to

 catch fire in the wind

I fear this is becoming human norm. Survival of the fittest will be the ones furthest from the trees.

Your response made me think of Cat Stevens..."He was the King of Trees..."

I always like Oh, Very Young.
This picture is already a fact in some corners of the globe. I want to believe it's also a prophecy to the rest of us. Humankind has the responsibility to ensure it never comes to pass.

And they are shirking the responsibility at the moment...we need to be more careful.

Thank you for your words, Pash,

Dear Sir, why you are worried about the natural calamities, it is not the one like prophecies, or black magic spell, Is God watching and not taking any action, i think you are much scared and making people fearful, instead give hope, there is no black spell, which can destroy good and Good always win, the best example is mine, is that Earth has seen quakes, tsunamis, but it is on its axis, yes its eliminates bad and takes good to heaven, so there is no worry, all well in balance. I dont want you to be worried for anything, not evil and not cheat too.

Unfortunately, jessy, this one was not a natural disaster, it was caused by human neglect.

I saw on the news the other night that there were four hundred - FOUR HUNDRED!!! - different fires burning. Isn't that crazy?!?

You've captured this well within your poem.

Check out this awesome video of South African Firefighters as they land in Canada to help battle the wildfires:

saw the video...that is one way to approach it...quite uplifting.

Masterfully expressed in light.
Consequence is suppose to fallow action. It's maddening when earthly minds entangle with heavenly demons.
Hat's of to the teacher. Bravo☆☆☆☆☆

I'm hoping for our Canadian neighbors to get the fires under control. It is indeed on a mass scale and ones that have surprised all in the world.
Your great empathetic poem sir Jacob calls for awareness and action.
