Traveling Man

Traveling Man

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Traveling Man

your vivid skin

and composure

slap at my sensibility

I could love you in seconds

if I had a stopwatch to count

instead of a stop-sign heart

that tells me to run it

and then accelerate

into the future

just me,

and my St. Christopher's medal.

Jacob,

There is no heart's intuition but that of a wounded and broken heart that does shout above the din, "Run Fool! Run!" ... As always, I find myself refreshed and invigorated every time I visit your page, to ask myself who do I not visit and stop by more often? ... A fool has no answers ...

I write poetry, Marve, but often feel like a fool.
thank you,
j.
So meaningful are these words. Beautifully conveyed in their brevity. That heart of yours has taken a few punches. Hardly surprising the caution. Yes, hold on to the St Christopher for protection dear J. Wonderful poetry.

Your words paint a passionate connection that's both tantalizing and fleeting, like a moment captured in time. The imagery of your "stop-sign heart" and the longing to accelerate into the future adds depth to the emotions conveyed. The mention of the St. Christopher's medal hints at a quest for protection on this journey of love and self-discovery.

Thank you for your insights into this piece, Chaity,

A poem with such powerful lines...
The heart becomes the stop sign, telling the poet to run. Perhaps, one can't blame the heart. It takes all the impact when things go wrong and it must be so weary of it all by now.
The Traveling Man is such an interesting title.

Yes Jacob, the traveling man. He cannot stop. He want more.
"that tells me to run it
and then accelerate
into the future"
I did like the above lines my friend. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Sounds like a problem with commitment. Temptation is nullified by reluctance. Love 'em and leave 'em has been reversed.
PS: Even though St. Christopher has been desanctified (as I understand), I believe he'll keep on protecting travelers, because he's just that kind of a guy.

The patron saint of trying to guess the future? Or just a chicken ducking out?

Sounds to me like you need to put that thing in reverse, pick her up and head for Lover's Lane, wherever the hell that is.
