Home is sounding a bit bleak here. I rather like the image of home fires burning on the hearth and families sharing meals around the table or out camping, fishing and hiking together. But us hillbillies are a simple lot.

Born in West Virginia in 1940... grew up in Maryland... raised two children in Virginia... where we all live at present. Our Country is a Puzzle with a few pieces missing. It is a Melancholy time with Grandfather Clocks feeling Blue.

I don't think you are the only one feeling this Jacob, although that is of no help to how you feel as a cog in the machine that used to run so smoothly, as life just happened around you but now get it crammed down your throat.
I was just reading a story on the BBC news site about protests in Northern virrginia about the amount of data centres popping into existence and how taxpayers are paying the cost not only with subsidies, but by the pollution they cause, all because of its proximity to Washington and the relatively affordable cost to business with cheap land deals.
Whoever would have thought people in a place with job worries would push back so aggressively against job creation, but at a cost to the environment.
Perhaps that shows we aren't as broken as we thought we were. Well not at least until the election results come through.
Those tolls do take a heavy price, don't they?
Somehow, I don't think the local chamber of commerce is going to use this one in its latest brochure.
