Dear j, once that trust is broken, can it ever be truly mended? I think perhaps not. There is much catastrophe in these lines as well as satire. There is danger in love, we all know that but the rewards can be heavenly.
Well, I think Venus is going to give something less than five stars to this one. Who is her man in the sky, anyway? Zeus? She better keep her distance from that sucker, or she'll end up swelling his belly.
Jacob,
Every time ai read a poem about the dangerous track laid down by LOVE, I think of Keats' "La Belle Dame Sans Merci." You and I have both had our hearts ripped out and trampled. It's like we KNOW how dangerous love is, but, just like a rattlesnake for a pet, we want to give it a name and tell everyone, "It's okay, she won't bite."

J Giles said it in a song, "Love Stinks", while you Jacob, say it in a poem. What a word, 'mistrust', or 'trust', both based on deeds, not words. And both can be used, or not, by a cynical heart. As I read your poem, I was reminded of Captain Ahab's famous line, "from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee." gods and goddesses never play fair and we humans are always caught in the middle and leaving us to clean up this tangled mess. How many times can the pieces of a heart be put back together??
I know, my mind went beyond, the beyond once again. But I do love reading your poetry, Jacob. And for the search to find my mind as well.

that's my kind of girl... no really, that's my kind of girl:/ give me a tissue and some potato chips, perhaps a gin and tonic? great write here brother Jacob
this was a thought-provoking work with elements of myth, philosophy, and satire. it explores the theme of trust, and how fragile a thing it is, and how painful it is when it breaks.
stylistically, this was also brilliant. the single syllable ending line of the first two and last stanzas was both euphonic and draws attention to this magical word. throughout, the rhythm, which sometimes breaks unexpectedly, was captivating - i was hooked until the end.
it was a very intelligent piece that was superbly penned.
dear Jacob... since we have a natural Spirit in our soul and heart... we can encourage each other... who in turn encourage others to be Kind and cultivate a World where everyone has a Job and works for a livelihood... and not a Hand out. This is our Prayer day by day. Amen... Pat
I think trust can only be broken once before it makes a fool of us and yet we don't see the tomfoolery because our hearts rule our heads.; that is the ones of us that do have kind and forgiving hearts.
Trust no false gods or goddesses, they are the pagan invaders of all that is pure.
