A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a dressed-up with make-up party favor

poetry is politics

without the grime

just rhyme

and a dime or two

thrown into the cup

by the stage

where the bard

will rage

against the machine

being not too keen

on the likenesses

of the characters

in between the lines

where syllables breed

statutes that count crookedly

when the pentameter

is bent with misappropriation

for the impromptu verbs of consequence

and nouns sit out in the cold

without an adjective to cloak them

but an angry poet to choke them

of all sentiment

not even one adverb or preposition

to vote no

against ending the poem

with a couplet

only the upper-case nouns

might understand.

This is really an incredible idea, analog. Creative and writing about writing is one of the best things that can happen to a poet. Written in the style of a true teacher. Great, as always.

J., There you go getting all dolled up for my day I quit school forgettin' all these crazy words ...
What I always need a dick-shun-nary FOR!
Experience just kinda-sorta teaches us what words mean, correct? Noun, Verb, Adverb are pretty useless...although a lot of people are using Pronoun these days.
As always, I loved it. Eternity

You give the subject better language with the english language then it deserves. Wonderful writing on a topic we would all like to use a lesser form of language to describe it, well maybe just me. as always I applaud.

reminds me of sex I cannot lie. what an angry thing. and your words weren't even harsh, rather just words spoken softly. but they hold the emotions from within you. that's magic right ther, j

Even the most glorious poet tends to squeeze out the niceties in order to bring focus to the anger / revulsion / disgust at it all. Or maybe I am just inserting my recent writing mood. ~Jim

Yes siiiirrrrr. .
Loved this one and its meta metaphor. This could have gone on forever just like those extended terms where antiquated words died in office. Homonyms, Antonyms, Synonyms on and on. Very nice
