My Sister and Her Cookies

My Sister and Her Cookies

A Poem by Ethan Boroian

When my sister was younger, she was famous for throwing fits,

My mom would always cure them, by baking cookies with chocolate chips,

My sister would eat these cookies, for breakfast snacks and lunch,

Sometimes she would save them, so she could eat them all at once…

Then one day we had guests over, I think it was Christmas Eve,

A couple with their two children, and a new puppy named Steve,

The dog observed my sister, eating cookies on the floor,

Every time she finished one she’d ask for one more,

She was always very messy and left crumbs on the ground,

She ate every one of them, every one she found,

It was then that she saw the biggest chocolate chip,

And couldn’t wait to eat it as she brought it to her lips,

Once it was in her mouth, it was then that she realized,

That the dog that was right next to her had left a little surprise,

Certain it was chocolate, she did not notice it was a t**d,

Shocked by the taste and texture, she couldn’t say a word,

And as her eyes filled with tears, she started to throw a fit,

She wouldn’t accept cookies, so my mom had to find a new way to fix this…

Wow! Bravo! This is the ultimate reason why anyone made up the text slang LOL. I love how you didn't lose your meaning throughout the whole poem, what you started with, you also ended with. Which would be the temper tantrums. I noticed that in your profile you said you liked witty, clever poems but I had no idea what that was implying to until I read this piece. It was a little piece of everyday life captured in about 25 o 30 lines. I absolutely loved this poem and I think whenever I read it I will always laugh out loud or at least smile! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful piece with me!

I absolutely loved this. Light-hearted and humerous. I laughed. It reminded me a bit of my own sister. I love the style, tone, and narration. Beautifully done.
